SLU Holding’s history

Since the startup of SLU Holding AB in 1995 the company has enjoyed an exciting transition from dedicated investment company to business-development company. SLU Holding currently offers services and assistance from concept stage through to so-called seed funding.

It all began in the 1990s, when the government wanted to increase the opportunities for the knowledge emanating from universities to permeate society in the form of companies, products and services. 11 university-linked holding companies were started, SLU Holding being one of them.

In 2007 SLU Holding received an extended assignment from SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences), namely to facilitate the creation of more innovations from activities within the university. In addition to the investment assignment, a structure was created for the provision of services in the field of business and innovation development for all SLU employees.

SLU Holding currently has employees in Uppsala, Alnarp, Skara and Umeå. Every year approximately 100 innovation ideas from SLU and green industries are evaluated.
