Hi Nicholas! What does your work at SLU Holding involve?

I’m working as an Innovation and business advisor at SLU Holding.

Could you tell us a little about your background?

My most recent job was at Industrifonden, a venture-capital company managing about SEK 4bn, where I was investment manager for Skåne. Before that I worked in a number of different places, focusing on utilisation and commercialisation of early research projects.

What is the best thing about supporting scientists and working in close cooperation with them?

The best thing is seeing their potential get converted into beneficial applications outside academia. They often work wonders in academia, but most of them can provide even greater benefit when they leave it and show society what they can do by taking their research to the market!

Where do you get the inspiration for your work?

My hope and belief is that all researchers want to change the world, and we do that not just within academia. The university's third assignment is of course creating benefit, and this just gets more and more important every year. And that’s what inspires me in my work, i.e. getting to contribute towards making a real difference to society!
