SLU researcher wins innovation prize

This year’s winner of the SKAPA prize in Västerbotten county is Rosario García Gil, who has developed the vertical cultivation module Vertisá.

The SKAPA Foundation’s innovation prize is awarded in recognition of individuals with inventive ideas. This year’s winner of the prize in Västerbotten is Rosario García Gil, who is a researcher at the Department for Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology.

Rosario has developing an adaptable vertical irrigation system for both indoor and outdoor use. What is unique about the system is that it provides each individual plant with exactly the right amount of water, according to its needs.

Rosario is now going to be representing Västerbotten in SKAPA’s nationwide innovation competition. The winner will be announced on 11 November.
